Strategy and Goals
Define what the redesign must improve and preserve.
Identify key audiences, high-value tasks and the pages already producing enquiries. Save a dated baseline before changing design or tracking. Agree how success will be assessed, including usability and lead quality, so appearance alone does not become the acceptance criterion.
Content and SEO Preservation
Protect useful content and existing search entry points.
Inventory URLs, high-value landing pages and internal links before reorganizing the site. Map genuine moves to relevant destinations and compare old and new content. Do not remove a page solely because it looks dated without reviewing its purpose, traffic and replacement plan.
UX and Conversion Planning
Plan the path from arrival to a completed enquiry.
Sketch the main journeys for new visitors, returning customers and people arriving on deeper pages. Make navigation labels and primary actions understandable. Test proposed forms and trust information against the questions users need answered before contacting the business.
Design and Accessibility
Design components that remain usable across devices and input methods.
Check typography, contrast, keyboard focus, labels and error states before visual approval. Review responsive layouts at realistic widths and with enlarged text. A design file is a starting point; the implemented components still need browser and assistive-technology checks.
Development and Performance
Build and test the redesign in a controlled environment.
Use staging, recoverable backups and a clear release scope. Size images for their rendered use, review third-party scripts and validate tracking with test journeys. Compare representative templates under repeatable performance conditions before moving to production.
Launch and Post-Launch
Launch with a checklist, rollback path and follow-up owner.
Verify live redirects, forms, contact links, canonicals and sitemap output after deployment. Watch for missing pages or sudden tracking changes before interpreting traffic shifts. Schedule a review that compares similar periods and turns observed problems into specific fixes.
