AI Citation is a reference or link used by an AI search experience to support or attribute a generated answer.
Example of AI Citation
An AI answer links a technical claim to a supplier’s specification page. The citation should be checked against the exact claim: a link’s presence does not guarantee that the source supports every sentence in the generated answer.
Why AI Citation matters
It matters because search behavior is becoming more conversational and answer-driven. Clear, authoritative, well-structured content gives both users and AI systems a better chance of understanding and referencing your brand accurately.
