AI Overviews are AI-generated summaries that can appear in Google Search, with links people can use to explore supporting information. They are not shown for every search, and their wording and sources can vary. A cited page is not necessarily the first ordinary search result.
Eligible sites can use Search Console’s generative AI performance report to review impressions associated with AI Overviews and AI Mode. Keep that visibility measure distinct from website visits, leads and ordinary ranking observations. The report’s availability and data depend on the property and its recorded activity.
Example
For example, a business could compare the pages receiving generative-AI impressions with its useful service and educational pages. It would then review ordinary search traffic and lead reporting separately instead of assuming that an impression produced a website visit.
