Analytics and Measurement FAQ

What is Event?

Answer and Example

Event is a recorded user interaction or system action in analytics, such as a page view, click, form submit, or purchase.

It matters because analytics turns marketing activity into decisions. Without clear measurement language, teams may misread performance, overvalue the wrong channels, or miss the actions that actually drive revenue.

Example

A site can record an event after a visitor successfully submits an inquiry form. Give that event a clear definition and test the success condition so failed submissions or repeated button clicks are not reported as completed requests.
