More traffic is not always the fastest way to grow. Often, the best opportunity is improving the percentage of visitors who take action. This calculator shows your current conversion rate and estimates the business impact of improving it.
What this calculator does
Calculate website conversion rate and model how conversion improvements affect leads, customers, revenue, and profit.
How to use it
Enter sessions, conversions, target conversion rate, close rate, customer value, and margin. The calculator returns current conversion rate, additional leads, additional customers, incremental revenue, and profit impact.
Formula and assumptions
- Conversion rate (%) = conversions ÷ sessions × 100.
- Target conversions = sessions × target conversion rate.
- Additional customers = additional conversions × close rate.
Assumptions
- A conversion can be a lead, purchase, phone call, booking, or another meaningful action.
- The model assumes traffic quality stays the same when conversion rate improves.
- Conversion improvement may require better landing pages, forms, CTAs, tracking, offer clarity, and trust signals.
Model details and limits
- This tool divides tracked conversion actions by website sessions for the same period and multiplies by 100. Multiple counted actions per session can make that event-based rate exceed 100%; it is not automatically the same as GA4 session key event rate. Use one consistent conversion definition.
- The target percentage represents actions per 100 sessions. Additional conversions are floored at zero when the target is below the current rate. The tool models improvement only and does not estimate losses from a lower target. If the conversion is already a customer purchase, use a 100% close rate to avoid discounting it twice.
Worked example
With 150 conversion actions from 5,000 sessions, the current rate is 3%. A 5% target implies 250 actions, or 100 additional conversions. At 20% close rate and $2,500 customer value, that means 20 additional customers and $50,000 revenue; 50% gross margin gives $25,000 gross profit.

How to interpret your result
Small conversion rate improvements can produce meaningful revenue gains when traffic volume and customer value are strong. This is why CRO should be paired with SEO and paid traffic.
