A redesign is not just a visual refresh. It can affect rankings, conversion rate, tracking, page speed, content structure, and lead generation. This calculator helps plan a redesign budget that includes the work required to protect performance during launch.
What this calculator does
Estimate redesign cost by factoring in content migration, redesign complexity, SEO preservation, integrations, and functionality.
How to use it
Enter current page count, new design templates, rewritten pages, URL changes, design complexity, integrations and tracking complexity. The calculator returns a low-to-high redesign estimate, its arithmetic midpoint and a migration-scoping prompt.
Formula and assumptions
- Base redesign cost varies by design complexity.
- Migration cost increases with existing page count and URL changes.
- Tracking and integrations add implementation and QA cost.
Assumptions
- Redesigns often require content, technical SEO, redirects, tracking QA, and launch support.
- If URL structure changes, redirects and migration QA are critical.
- A lower-cost redesign can still be risky if SEO, analytics, and conversion paths are not protected.
Model details and limits
- These are illustrative planning allowances in US dollars. Refresh/custom/advanced design starts at $3,500/$8,000/$15,000. Add $85 per current page, $700 per new template, $300 per rewritten page and $500 per integration.
- No/some/many URL changes add $0/$2,500/$6,000. Basic/standard/advanced tracking adds $750/$1,800/$3,500. The low/high range is 85%/125% of the subtotal; the displayed planning midpoint is the arithmetic average of those endpoints (105% of subtotal).
- The migration-risk flag is an internal scoping prompt: High for many URL changes or over 100 current pages; Medium for some URL changes or over 30 pages; otherwise Low. It does not measure the actual SEO risk of a site. Final scope requires a URL, content and tracking inventory.
Worked example
The default custom redesign totals $23,550: $8,000 design, $2,550 page review, $4,200 templates, $3,000 copy, $2,500 URL changes, $1,500 integrations and $1,800 tracking. Its range is $20,017.50–$29,437.50, midpoint $24,727.50. Choosing no URL changes removes $2,500 from the subtotal, making the midpoint $22,102.50.

How to interpret your result
The higher the migration risk, the more important it is to build a launch checklist around redirects, analytics, metadata, page speed, forms, and indexation monitoring.
