Campaign Strategy
Set one clear campaign purpose and audience.
Define who should receive the message, where they are in the customer journey and the intended next action. Choose timing based on audience and operational needs. Agree a useful outcome measure before writing, rather than judging success only by a high open rate.
List and Consent
Use a permission-based audience with current suppression rules.
Check subscription status, segment conditions and applicable requirements before sending. Exclude people who unsubscribed and review risky or inactive addresses appropriately. Do not treat a purchased list or an existing customer record as automatic permission for every marketing campaign.
Copy and Creative
Make the message clear even when images are unavailable.
Write an honest subject line and useful preview text, then keep the body focused on the promised value. Use readable text and a clear CTA. Add relevant alternative text to informative images and avoid making essential instructions depend on a graphic alone.
Technical QA
Preview the exact message and destination before sending.
Check sender identity, reply handling, links, personalization fallbacks and mobile rendering. Send tests to appropriate inboxes and inspect the actual destination page. Verify that a missing field does not expose a placeholder or produce an awkward greeting in the live message.
Deliverability
Confirm authentication and monitor sending quality.
Review the sending domain's configuration with the email platform and inspect bounce or complaint patterns. Keep identity consistent and avoid sudden, unjustified volume changes. Formatting checks cannot compensate for poor permission practices or an audience that does not expect the email.
Reporting
Evaluate meaningful engagement and business outcomes.
Treat opens cautiously because privacy tools and automated activity can affect them. Review clicks, unsubscribes and completed actions with platform filtering limitations in mind. Record what the campaign taught you about the audience and offer, then use that evidence to plan the next send.
