An AI citation is a reference or link shown with an AI-generated answer to attribute or support information. It is different from an unlinked mention of a business. Citation styles and source behavior vary across products, and a displayed link does not prove that every statement in the answer is correct.
Open the cited page and check whether it supports the associated claim. When measuring visibility, record the exact destination and answer context. A citation may create an opportunity for discovery, but it is not itself a website visit, endorsement or completed sale.

For example, an answer might link to a planning guide while summarizing one of its steps. A reviewer would save the cited URL and check the summary against the guide, then use separate analytics to assess any identifiable visits or enquiries.
