AI visibility describes whether and how accurately a business or page appears in AI-generated experiences. Define the product and observation being measured: mentions, citations, impressions, referral visits and leads are related but different. There is no single metric that captures all of them.
Google Search Console provides a generative-AI impressions report for eligible properties. Bing Webmaster Tools offers AI citation reporting for supported Microsoft and partner experiences. Use each report within its stated scope, alongside identifiable referral traffic and lead data; neither represents every AI product or every customer exposure.
Example
A practical review might combine a dated citation log, supported first-party visibility reports and website referral outcomes. It should state missing coverage and avoid adding unlike metrics into a supposed total number of AI-generated customers.
